Iguazu Waterfalls: Guide to Visiting One of the 7 Natural Wonders

Visiting Iguazu Falls is an experience that extends far beyond being just a tourist destination. It’s a natural spectacle so overwhelming that it remains forever etched in your memory. In my case, it was a must-see on your travel list: the magnitude of the water tumbling through the jungle and the pure air you breathe make you immediately understand why it’s a World Heritage Site and one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature.

Why are Iguazu Falls so special?

World Heritage and Natural Wonder

Located on the border between Argentina and Brazil, the falls are part of two protected national parks: Iguazú National Park (Argentina) and Iguaçu National Park (Brazil). Both are UNESCO World Heritage Sites and are considered one of the greatest natural wonders of the planet. The most striking feature is the exuberant flow of water cascading through more than 275 waterfalls, set amidst a subtropical rainforest. Walking along the walkways, you not only hear the roar of the water but also enjoy the area’s biodiversity: monkeys, exotic birds, and coatis appear at every turn.

The best of the Argentine side

The Argentine side offers a more immersive experience. The walkways literally take you over the water and bring you closer to the main waterfalls. Devil’s Throat, with its deafening roar, is a unique spectacle.

Where are they and how to get to Iguazú?

Arriving from Buenos Aires

The most common way is to fly from Buenos Aires to Puerto Iguazú (Argentine side). The flight takes less than two hours, with several daily departures available. From the airport, a taxi will take you to the city or the park entrance in just a few minutes.

What to see and do in Iguazú National Park

Devil's Throat: the star of the tour

The most famous spot. A balcony places you right in front of the park’s most impressive waterfall. It’s impossible not to be mesmerized by the sight of that mass of water tumbling with immeasurable force.

Trails and walkways with spectacular views

The Argentine park has several circuits: the Upper Walkway, the Lower Walkway, and the Jungle Ecological Train, which takes you to Devil’s Throat. All offer different perspectives, from walking along the river to feeling the mist on your face.

Fauna and flora: monkeys, coatis and more

Coatis, toucans, colorful butterflies, and, with a bit of luck, monkeys appear among the trees on every hike. On my visit, the animal encounters along the way made the walk even more special.

Where to stay near Iguazú

Options in Puerto Iguazú (Argentina)

The city of Puerto Iguazú offers a range of accommodations, from budget hostels to boutique hotels. It’s the perfect base for enjoying local restaurants and culture.
There are exclusive options within the parks, such as the Gran Meliá Iguazú.

Frequently Asked Questions About Iguazu Falls

What is the best time to go?

From November to March, you will see more flow, and from April to September, you will have cooler weather.

The ideal time is 4 days, to arrive, stay peacefully, and visit the park without rushing.

Comfortable shoes, sunscreen, insect repellent, water, and a light raincoat.

Caminito Street, Buenos Aires: History, Culture, and What to See in La Boca

Visiting Buenos Aires without stopping by Caminito is like missing a piece of the porteño soul. This corner of the La Boca neighborhood combines history, color, tango, soccer, and gastronomy in an unforgettable experience. It’s enchanting to stroll through its picturesque streets, feel the warmth of its people, and end the afternoon with a delicious barbecue and wine.

What is Caminito and why is it so famous?

Caminito is an open-air museum street located in the La Boca neighborhood. It became world-famous for its brightly painted tin houses, for being the birthplace of artists, and for inspiring the famous tango «Caminito.» Today, thousands of tourists visit it each year, attracted by its unique blend of cultural tradition and festive atmosphere.

Beyond being a tourist attraction, it still exudes neighborhood life: neighbors drinking mate on the sidewalk, artisans performing live shows, and musicians who inspire people to dance to an improvised tango.

History of El Caminito and the La Boca Neighborhood

The origins of the La Boca neighborhood are linked to Italian immigrants, particularly those from Genoa, who arrived at the end of the 19th century. They built houses with sheet metal and wood and painted them with leftover paint from ships. This gave rise to the colorful aesthetic that is now a symbol of the neighborhood.

Caminito Street, in particular, was revived in the 1950s thanks to artist Benito Quinquela Martín, who promoted the restoration of the area and turned it into an open-air museum. Since then, Caminito has been a living tribute to art, immigration, and the Boca spirit.

Colorful Houses, street art, and live tango

One of Caminito’s most fantastic attractions is its multicolored facades. Every corner is a picture-perfect postcard, and many facades are decorated with murals or sculptures depicting typical scenes from Buenos Aires’ life.

It’s also common to find tango couples dancing in the street, inviting tourists to join in for a photo or enjoy the spectacle. I remember spending a long time watching a guitarist improvise while two dancers twirled to the rhythm of the bandoneon. It was a unique moment and, without a doubt, a living tribute to the tradition popularized by Carlos Gardel, the great ambassador of tango throughout the world. His legacy lives on in every note that plays in Caminito.

What to do in Caminito: Recommended Tours and Walks

The best way to explore Caminito is on foot. You can do it on your own or sign up for one of the tours, which include La Boca, San Telmo, and even a boat ride on the Riachuelo.

I recommend a guided tour, as the guides share historical and current anecdotes, such as Caminito’s role in popular culture and how it has changed over the years. They also know the best places to take photos without the crowds.

Caminito and the passion for football: tribute to Diego Maradona

You can’t talk about La Boca without mentioning football and the legendary Diego Maradona. Very close to Caminito is La Bombonera, Boca Juniors’ stadium. In the area, you’ll find murals, graffiti, and statues honoring Maradona, the neighborhood’s eternal idol.

Frequently asked questions about Caminito

Where is Caminito?

In the La Boca neighborhood, south of the city of Buenos Aires.

Yes, it’s a public space. The shows, tours, and meals are subject to charges.

During the day, yes, but it’s best not to stray far from the main streets and avoid going at night.

Argentine grill, empanadas, choripanes, and typical sweets like alfajores.

The colorful houses, the Maradona murals, the tango dancers, and a good lunch at a grill.

Glamping Lodge Manso River:
patagonia adventure trips

Stretching between Argentina and Chile, Patagonia is a mosaic of peaks, glaciers, and lush forests. The glamping lodge is located on a 2,500-hectare estate overlooking the majestic Nahuel Huapi National Park. From December to March, the rivers reach their maximum flow, ideal for rafting, hiking, horseback riding, hydrospeeding, and sport fishing. In autumn (April and May), the trails are filled with tranquil, vibrant colors. Whatever the season, Patagonia offers unique landscapes and unforgettable adventures.

What will you find at the Glamping Lodge Manso River?

The camp is located on private land within the Manso River Valley—a rugged area where you can still find cave paintings, hidden waterfalls, and untouched forests. It’s a place that invites both adventure and relaxation.
Glamping is designed to balance nature and comfort. Each tent is raised on wooden platforms, with box-spring beds, nightstands, and shelter perfect for the Patagonian climate. They offer fresh, regional cuisine, delicious breakfasts, lunches, and dinners.
